1. Our commitment

Every international shipment involves risks: damage, loss, theft, delay, weather or geopolitical contingencies. At NOPA Trading & Solutions, the security of your goods is a priority at every stage of the logistics chain. We rigorously select our partner carriers and freight forwarders, advise you on the appropriate insurance coverage and support you in the event of a claim.

2. Carrier liability: what you need to know

In international transport, carrier liability is governed by conventions that cap compensation in the event of loss or damage:

• International road transport: CMR Convention — compensation capped at approximately 8.33 SDR per kilogram of gross weight;
• Sea transport: Hague-Visby Rules — approximately 2 SDR per kilogram or 666.67 SDR per package (whichever is higher);
• Air transport: Montreal Convention — approximately 22 SDR per kilogram.

3. "Ad valorem" insurance: the recommended protection

Cargo insurance, known as "ad valorem" insurance, covers the actual declared value of your goods, regardless of carriers' liability ceilings. It is strongly recommended for:

• high-value goods (electronics, machinery, finished products);
• fragile or sensitive goods;
• multimodal routes or destinations with higher risk exposure;
• your first imports, particularly from Asia.

Upon simple request when receiving your quotation, NOPA can arrange ad valorem insurance on your behalf with specialized insurers. The coverage conditions (insured value, deductibles, exclusions) and the cost are specified in the quotation. Unless instructed in writing by you, no ad valorem insurance is taken out automatically.

4. In the event of a claim: our support

Delay, loss or damage identified? Our team acts quickly on your behalf:

• assistance in formulating reservations upon delivery, in the required form and within the legal deadlines;
• preparation of the claim file (transport documents, photos, invoices);
• dedicated, hands-on follow-up with carriers and insurers;
• search for a satisfactory solution as quickly as possible.

5. Security and compliance of your shipments

5.1 Partner selection

We work exclusively with a proven network of carriers, freight forwarders and customs brokers, on every continent (Asia, Europe, Africa, the Americas), selected for their reliability, certifications and quality of service.

5.2 Customs and documentary compliance

Incomplete or incorrect documentation is one of the leading causes of customs blockages and extra costs. We secure your operations upstream: verification of transport documents, invoices, certificates of origin, tariff classification and compliance with the regulations applicable to your goods.

5.3 Packing and packaging

We advise you on the packing, marking and palletizing appropriate to the chosen mode of transport — an essential condition for the security of the goods and the validity of insurance coverage.

5.4 Shipment monitoring

You are kept informed of the progress of your shipments at key stages. In the event of a contingency (port congestion, geopolitical disruption, transport incident), we alert you and put in place the available alternative solutions.

6. Security of your data

Security also applies to your information: the commercial and documentary data you entrust to us is treated confidentially and protected by appropriate technical and organizational measures (encrypted communications, restricted access). See our Privacy policy for more information.

7. Professional liability insurance

NOPA Trading & Solutions holds professional liability insurance covering its transport organization and consulting activities, taken out with [insurer and policy number to be completed].
